WEBINARS FOR UKRAINIAN SCIENTISTS ON ISSUES OF USING THE WEB OF SCIENCE PLATFORM

During the week, Clarivate will hold free webinars in Ukrainian, devoted to issues of scientometrics and bibliometrics, at which the peculiarities of publication of the results of scientific activity of scientists in publications will be considered, which are indexed by the Web of Science database, opportunities to use Web of Science and platform tools. Webinars are conducted by Iryna Tikhonkova, consultant for regional solutions of the Clarivate company. Registered participants will receive electronic certificates of participation. Scientometrics and bibliometrics are terms that have confidently entered the lives of scientists and evoke diametrically opposite emotions: from admiration and idealization to persistent rejection. The webinar will discuss the purpose and tasks of scientometrics, what data and from what sources are used for analysis, criteria of their quality, how they are calculated and for what (not)can be used: impact factor and its variations, Journal Citation Indicator, quartile, h-index, CNCI, beamplots. Examples of the application of scientometric indicators will be considered, and causes and effects. Increasing number of scientific results, changes in the publishing landscape, caused by the spread of open access, publication requirements and the activity of predatory publications encourage authors to be careful when choosing a publication for publication. At the webinar, participants will consider the process of selecting publications for indexing in Web of Science, from which fields of knowledge, what are the quality criteria of the publication, what additional publication indicators and metrics are available in Journal Citation Reports, how to find the best edition to publish or check if the proposed edition is actually indexed by the database.
