“Flipping through the pages of history”
(to the 95th anniversary of the founding of MNNI NUK)
18 December Machine-Building Educational and Scientific Institute of NUS named after. adm. Makarova noted 95-anniversary of its foundation. Over the years, the institute has prepared more 30 thousands of specialists for various sectors of the economy, many of them became famous statesmen and public figures, heads of industrial enterprises, research organizations, educational institutions, professionals of the highest grade. A whole galaxy of prominent professors, associate professors, teachers is forever associated with this glorious institution.
In the conference hall, where ceremonial events took place, was located and exhibition of literature “Flipping through the pages of history” (to the 95th anniversary of the founding of MNNI NUK), which was prepared by the staff of the customer service department of the Scientific Library in MNNI NUK them. adm. Makarov The main purpose of the exhibition was to demonstrate the full scale and diversity of scientific and pedagogical heritage of scientists of the institute during its existence.
Unique materials were presented at the exhibition: from one of the earliest editions “Proceedings of the Nikolaev Shipbuilding Institute” – 1934 year - to the materials of International scientific and technical conferences 2019 year; from manuals and textbooks of scientists of previous years VM. 5 December employees of the customer service department of the Scientific Library at the Machine-Building Educational and Scientific Institute (MNNI) NUS them. adm. «Shipbuilding of Nikolaevshchina: past and present (1789-2019 рр.)»
27 November in the Electronic Reading Room of the National Library of NUS. adm. Makarov passed a virtual local history trip "Shipbuilding of Nikolaevshchina: past and present (1789-2019 рр.)». Traditionally, this event is held for third and fourth year students of the Faculty of Marine Economics NUS.. adm. Makarova.
During the event, students learned about the Nikolaev shipbuilding cluster, which was one of the most powerful in the world and the key role of Ukraine in the development of the shipbuilding industry of the USSR and the domestic fleet.
A considerable part of local lore trip was devoted to opening of activity of the Nikolaev shipbuilding enterprises, starting with the first shipyard "Nikolaev Admiralty", laid at the mouth of the river Ingul in 1788 year. Also students learned about history of creation of such Nikolaev shipbuilding enterprises and the companies as "Naval", Russud, "Shipyard. 61 Communards », Black Sea Shipyard, "Ocean", Nibulon. The participants were especially interested in activity of modern design bureaus and research centers of Nikolaev, such, as SE "Research and Design Center for Shipbuilding", PKB "Asaba Design Center", who develop and implement projects of all types of commercial vessels, modern warships, river vessels, service vessels (port fleet).
An exposition of books on the history of shipbuilding was also offered to the audience, the city of Mykolayiv and MKI-UDMTU-NUK.

Recently, employees of the customer service department of the Scientific Library at the Machine-Building Educational and Scientific Institute (MNNI) NUS them. adm. 18 November in the Electronic Reading Room of the Scientific Library of NUS. adm. Makarov held a virtual cruise "Legendary “Icarus”. Impression through the years ». The event was attended by second-year students of the Faculty of Marine Economics.
A legendary yacht “Icarus” became known far beyond the borders of our country due to the first in the history of domestic sailing around the world 1987-1988 рр., when the yacht crew is behind 327 days overcame 31 thousand. miles.
The main heroes of the event were members of the yacht crews “Icarus”, who in the majority were graduates and scientists of the Nikolaev shipbuilding institute and our compatriots.
Together with the students, we virtually went through the routes of the three most famous expeditions “Icarus”, namely: travel around the world, Grand regatta “Columbus 92”, dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America by Columbus, and transatlantic sailing in the regatta RASE-2000, held in honor of the transition of mankind to the third millennium.
Since the end of these expeditions, many meetings have taken place, more than a dozen interviews were conducted, much has been written about the yacht itself, about Captain Borys Stepanovych Nemirov and his crews. But I want to remember their story again and again, their sporting feat; once again feel the significance of the event, to contemporaries, and especially the younger generation, knew and remembered.

"Holiday, which is always with you "
14 November first-year students, studying in the specialty "Applied Linguistics", visited the presentation of the virtual digest "Holiday, which is always with you ", dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of the American writer E.. Hemingway. The event was prepared and conducted by the staff of the scientific department, of foreign literature and periodicals of the Scientific Library of NUS named after. adm. Makarova.
At the beginning of the meeting, the students seemed to visit Paris 20-30 years of the XX century. to the sounds of the magic waltz "Under the Sky of Paris" performed by French chansonnier Yves Montana. They admired the photo album with views of old Paris. Why Paris? So, that Paris was a “holiday, which is always with you "for Nobel Laureate in Literature Ernest Hemingway. "Holiday, which is always with you "- that's the name of his book-memoir about Paris, which the writer wrote all his life, and who saw the world only after his death.
At the presentation, the participants learned about the writer's various hobbies, his habits, passion and rebellious disposition, and also heard interesting stories from his bright, unusual life.
Students watched with interest the film about Ernest Hemingway's anti-fascist activities in Cuba and his participation in the hostilities of the First World War.
During the slide presentation "Under the Nobel Sign" the audience got acquainted with the works of the writer, and then watched the musical cartoon "The Old Man and the Sea" based on the eponymous philosophical novel by Hemingway. Students also virtually visited the writer's house-museum in the United States and learned about some moments of his personal life, after watching a video from the series "Unusual love stories". The highlight of the presentation was a video of an interview with Ernest Hemingway.
At the end of the event, students thanked the library staff for the interesting, cognitive event.

The purpose of this event is to honor scientific traditions, popularization of achievements of scientists and providing information on all spheres of multifaceted scientific activity of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Automation and Electrical Engineering (NN IAE).

Training on working with the Scopus database was held at NUS. adm. Makarova
25 October in the NUS. adm. Makarov held a training on working with the database Scopus, conducted by coach Elsevier, Deputy Director of the State Scientific and Technical Library of Ukraine, Candidate of Sciences in Social Communications Serhiy Nazarovets in cooperation with the Scientific Library of the University.
During the training, information was provided on the work in the Scopus database together with examples of practical use of the resource. There are graduate students, scientists, library staff were introduced to various strategies, which help to find the necessary information as effectively as possible, which allows you to spend less time searching and more time conducting research.
The following issues were considered during the training:
- the contents of the database, search tools, analysis and visualization of Scopus data;
- Scopus update;
- criteria for selection of scientific publications for presentation and inclusion in Scopus;
- author profile and organization profile in the Scopus database;
- basic scientometric indicators.
The speaker paid special attention to such scientometric indicators of the Scopus database, as CiteScore journal metrics, SCImago Journal Rank (SJR indicator), Source-Normalized Impact per Paper (SNIP), quartiles and percentiles of magazines.
To systematize the necessary information and manage bibliographic information, Mr. Sergey recommended the use of a universal bibliographic manager Mendeley. Its advantage is the ability to upload documents to your personal library, and their use at any time online or offline.
Note, that the training was attended not only by scientists from NUS. adm. Makarova, but also representatives of other universities of Nikolaev.
At the end of the event, everyone had the opportunity to ask questions to the lecturer.

Seminar-discussion "Open access as a means of promoting academic integrity"
25 October in the Electronic Reading Room of the Scientific Library of NUS. adm. Makarov in the framework of the International Open Access Week - 2019 seminar-discussion "Open access as a means of promoting academic integrity" took place. It was attended by young scientists, graduate students, university teachers.
Theoretical and practical issues of openness of science and education were discussed during the event. Particular attention was paid to the revolutionary initiative of the European Union on open access to scientific publications (OA2020 Initiative). Head of the Electronic Reading Room T. D. The queen spoke in detail about it, that the Open Access Movement has received strong support in connection with the launch 4 September 2018 of the year by the organization Science Europe "Plan S" (Plan S), developed by European Commission Open Access Commissioner Robert-Jan Smith (Robert-Jan Smits). The main purpose of "cOAlition S" is, to after 1 January 2020 year the results of scientific research, which have been funded or are funded by government grants, provided by national and European research councils and foundations, should be published in relevant open access journals or on open access platforms (repositories).
The participants of the seminar-discussion raised many issues, related to open access: why it is so important, that scientific publications be in the public domain, how and where to choose open access journals for publications, what are open access platforms and why subscription and hybrid magazines do not comply with the principles of "Plan S".
The seventh issue of the web-navigator "Open Access Resources" was presented during the seminar, which is a powerful search engine, that accumulates web addresses and helps users navigate the modern scientific resources of Open Access.
We really hope so, that the event will help raise awareness of Open Access among researchers and graduate students and help to understand the benefits of openness.

Web Navigator Presentation "Open Access Resources"
23 October as part of the International Open Access Week - 2019 (www.openaccessweek.org) presentation of the 7th issue of the web-navigator "Open access resources" - "Open access resources for science and learning". For this event to the Electronic Reading Room of the Scientific Library of NUS. adm. Makarov was invited by teachers and students of the third and fourth years of the Faculty of Marine Economics.
During the first part of the event - theoretical - the head of the Electronic Reading Room TD. The Queen told the audience about the international movement for Open Access - the movement for free and unimpeded online access to scientific and educational materials.
Starting with 2013 year annually, for the seventh year in a row, employees of the Electronic reading room, tracking new Open Access resources on the Internet, create a web navigator, which is a search engine, which accumulates web addresses and helps users navigate modern open access resources. All resource links are checked and updated in each issue. In the seventh issue of the web navigator, a new section "Main projects and initiatives of Open Access" has been created, and also expanded the section "Current open e-archives in the institutions of Ukraine". Total in the web navigator is presented 348 links to various open resources.
The main purpose of the International Open Access Week, which this year is held under the slogan "Open for Whom? Equity in Open Knowledge "-" Open to whom? Equality of access to open knowledge ", there is informing student youth about open educational resources, as well as about archives, catalogs, electronic libraries with free and free access to them. Therefore, in the second part of the event - practical - special attention was paid to the sections of the navigator, dedicated to the current open e-archives in the institutions of Ukraine, open access archives and specialized search engines.

In the Scientific Library of NUS named after. adm. Makarov became a good tradition of carrying out local lore quests to the birthday of Nikolaev. Therefore on the occasion of the 230th anniversary from the date of its foundation in the Electronic reading room the plot virtual local lore quest "Nikolaev - the city of prospects and opportunities" with students of group took place 2431 Faculty of Marine Economics.
The quest is an opportunity to become the hero of a real adventure, plunge into the world of mysteries and secrets, and a local history quest provides new knowledge about the native land, promotes love and respect for its history, present and future. That's why we searched with the students, played and got to know their hometown.
The game began with a brainstorming session, devoted to sights of Nikolaev, including Cimmerian port city "Wild Garden", Old Navy barracks, fairy tale children's town, Nikolaev Astronomical Observatory, yacht club and many others. The solution of riddles aroused great interest, in which there was an opportunity to show and develop their erudition and intellect. All-Ukrainian Day of Libraries is a special day, when the importance of the Library and the Librarian is noted: to inform and educate, organize access to information and resources, help and teach to navigate in the flow of information.
"Library: time of change - time of action » - under this slogan of the Ukrainian Library Association employees of the Scientific Library of NUS named after. adm. Makarov was traditionally celebrated together with his users, organizing various advertising and information events. All events had a single goal - to do everything, that everyone present in the library felt, that the All-Ukrainian Day of Libraries is his holiday. During a sailing regatta the known Nikolaev publisher Lev Traspov presented to Scientific library of NUS of a name of Admiral Makarov the toponymic dictionary-reference of YS Kryuchkov "Old Nikolaev" with a gift inscription: "Library NKI-NUK in memory of Yuri Semenovich on behalf of Lyudmila Ivanovna Kryuchkova".
The Scientific Library expresses its sincere gratitude to L. Traspov and L.I.. Kryuchkova for her invaluable contribution to the fund of the university's book collection, to which YS Kryuchkov devoted many years of fruitful pedagogical, scientific, research activities. The life and creative path of this multifaceted personality is a worthy example for the younger generation. Professor Kryuchkov inherited much research on the development and history of shipbuilding and the navy, research on the history of Nikolaev, creating a kind of encyclopedia of the city. The donated edition is a confirmation of that. On the occasion 75-anniversary of the birth of Victor Mikhailovich Gorbov, an outstanding scientist in the field of ship energy, Head of the Department of Operation of Ship Power Plants and Heat Power Engineering, 27 May in the assembly hall of the Machine-Building Educational and Scientific Institute (MNNI) there was a presentation of it personal exhibition “The uniqueness of scientific, technical and innovative activities of the scientist”.

19 April at the National University of Shipbuilding named after Admiral Makarov was a musical and literary evening "Poetry. Spring. Love ». The most creative people of the university gathered at the meeting. These are writers, poets, composers, revealed their talents to colleagues. Elated mood engulfed the audience from the first performance, after all, the meeting was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Marine Economics Volodymyr Parsyak, who with incredible charisma and inspiration showed the art of declaring poetry.

It has been on the screen for almost half a century, arousing the admiration of spectators and critics. Mykola Andriyovych Rimsky-Korsakov (1844–1908) - an outstanding figure in the history of musical culture, composer, educator, director, public figure, music critic, member of the creative community of Russian composers "Mighty Handful".
Meeting, organized on the occasion of honoring the memory of the great composer was opened by the head of the service department of the National Library IV. Kuznetsova. The presentation of "Admiral of Music" and information about important facts from his biography was made by the head of the customer service department of the Main Building of the Scientific Library G.V.. Kostyuk. The participants of the event learned about it, that the most complete gift of the composer was in the works, related to the world of fairy tales. Rimsky-Korsakov created 15 operas, including: Pskovyanka, "May night", "Sadko", "Snow Maiden", "Royal Bride", "Golden Rooster" and others. A number of fragments from these operas became hits, for example "Song of the Indian Guest" or orchestral "Flight of the Bumblebee". He devoted most of his life to teaching, was also the author of several textbooks and a large number of articles on musical topics.

A modern library is a center of communication, comfortable, most convenient for visitors, with open space and separate seating areas.
Trying to make the library space as convenient and attractive as possible for users, employees of the customer service department of the Scientific Library of NUS named after. adm. Makarov at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Automation and Electrical Engineering (ННІАЕ) decided to reorganize the traditional space of the reading room of the department. Based on that, that the reading room is not only a cozy place for students to read and work independently, teachers, university staff, but also a place, where various socio-cultural events of the library and events of the general university level take place - defense of diploma projects, conference, practical training, round tables, etc., the library staff transformed the reading room space. Forming it, employees sought to take into account the characteristics and interests of users, which they serve, to create the right conditions for different needs. So, was created various thematic areas - an area for reading and independent work of students and teachers, area for chamber events - round tables, meetings with scientists, poets, writers, etc., as well as a cozy area for relaxation and recreation of visitors to the collection.

The present teachers were informed about it, that in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine № 1213 from 06.11.2018 “Providing access to higher education institutions and research institutions, located in the sphere of management of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding has been granted access to electronic scientific databases (am to 31 May 2019 p.) at the expense of the state budget to scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science at the same time. Head of the Electronic Reading Room (ЕЧЗ) T. D. Korolyova spoke about the conditions and features of setting up remote access to these databases, and also stressed that, that the gained access to the international scientific databases Scopus and Web of Science gives the chance to researchers to carry out professional search of scientific publications, receive a variety of information about scientific developments, get information about the authors, who investigate this or that problem, information about organizations, publishing research in a specific field, as well as analyze and compare citations, publishing activity, bibliometric indicators scientific journals.
During the seminar, special attention was paid to full-text electronic collections of books published by the Center for Educational Literature., access to which in NUS them. adm. Makarov continues with 2009 p. For 10 years, the number of available books has increased by 712 textbooks (2009 – 528 approx., 2018 – 1240 approx.) by topics: audit, accountant's, personnel accounting; finances; economy; management; marketing; legal literature; humanities; natural and technical sciences. IN 2018 p. two new topics have been added: "Codes of Ukraine" and "Preparation for exams". During the prepaid period, all library users have the opportunity to use books, which are currently included in the paid package (from October 2018 p. books can only be read from the screen). Documents are already available, which will be printed during 2019 p., but already added to the prepaid package.
We hope so, that the provided opportunity to get acquainted with electronic information resources for science and education will promote further scientific and research work of teachers of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law of NUS. adm. Makarova .

7 February in the Scientific Library of the National University of Shipbuilding named after Admiral Makarov was the ceremony "Best Reader of the Year" among the teaching staff of the university.
Choosing the best reader is a new tradition for the NUS library. But choosing the best was not easy. Readers were judged not only by the number of pages read and the frequency of visits to the reading room. All nominees have been actively involved in the life of the library for many years, organize mass events, they don't just get information from books, and share it with students and colleagues. Many of the winners of the ceremony are real patrons, who donate their author's editions and books from home collections to the NUS library.

29 Vladislav Vitoldovich Matskevich celebrated his anniversary in January, retired captain of the 2nd rank, currently the head of the sector of standardization and metrology of the administrative and managerial staff of the research part of NUS named after. adm. Makarova. Vladislav Vitoldovich is an amazing man, which is sincerely and deeply respected by the entire team of many thousands of our university. He devoted most of his life to naval service and our university.

22 January in the reading room of the Main Building of NUS. adm. Makarov, a presentation of Greek language courses was held for students. The event was organized thanks to the partnership of the Student Trade Union, Scientific Library and the Nikolaev regional public organization Society of Greeks "New Greece". The Greek teacher prepared an interactive game for the students, and representatives of the travel agency spoke in detail about it, how to travel interesting, budget and not only in Greece, but also around the world. Employees of the reading room presented a book exhibition "Fr., Greece! The dream of my life.
