Annually 26 September is celebrated European Day of Languages, which is considered a traditional holiday in Europe with 2001 year. This day once again reminds of the importance of linguistic and cultural diversity, encourages the study of foreign languages and promotes the development of linguistic identity. Learning a foreign language is a step towards openness and respect for other cultures.
In the European Union is accrued 24 official languages, close 60 regional and minority languages. In European institutes, such languages are officially used on an equal basis: English, Bulgarian, Danish, Polish, Romanian, Slovak, German, French, Czech, Swedish, finnish, Portuguese and others.
Various educational editions are stored in the fund of the Admiral Makarov Scientific Library, scientific, reference, fiction and periodicals in the languages of the European Union member states.
