28 March - Nikolaev's Liberation Day from Nazi invaders
Every year, 28 March, Residents of the hero-Nikolaev city celebrate a landmark event-liberation from Nazi invaders. On this day they give tribute to the respect, Who heroically defended the city with weapons in their hands and worked selflessly in the rear, closer to victory. Remember, at what price did freedom and peace get. In total, during the period of occupation in Mykolaiv and the region, they died at the hands of the occupiers 74 662 peaceful citizen, 30 699 prisoners of war, 25 thousands of people were deported to Nazi Germany for forced labor.
Memory... It lives, is calling, knocks on our hearts. And today, in our minds, we again and again flow into the past, tirelessly flipping through the heroic pages of the stormy events of that terrible war every time. The struggle for the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine continues even now. Repeating the feat of past generations, the Ukrainian people free their lands from the Russian occupiers.
We remember all the heroes, whose struggle, selfless work and heroism contributed to the liberation of the city from the Nazis in 1944 year! We pay tribute to all those, who defends Ukraine today in a fierce struggle, defends her freedom and will!
