On the basis of the reading room of the department of service of users of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Automation and Electrical Engineering of Scientific Library of the University 7 April has held a competition for the best translation. It was participants, who want to improve their English language skills. It should be noted, that the competition was held by the Department of Language Training.
The university library was chosen as the venue not by chance - because it is here that a significant amount of information for learning foreign languages is concentrated. Before the start of the competition, employees of the NB presented the book exhibition "To help with translation" to the students of education ("To help with translation"). Thanks to her, the participants had the opportunity to get to know scientists, educational and reference publications in English from the fund of the Scientific Library.
Professional dictionaries were presented to the attention of the competition participants, grammar textbooks; monographs on economics, marketing, management, ecology; methodical instructions, teaching manuals for teachers of the Department of Modern Languages of the Admiral Makarov National Technical University; periodicals for technical translation. Also, to search for English-language information, the participants of the competition were advised to turn to the encyclopedias "Britannica", «Popular Science», «World Book», which are in the fund of the university library.
At the end of the presentation, it was emphasized that, English-language editions presented are only a small part of the foreign literature fund of the Scientific Library. If it becomes necessary to find additional literature, except for the one presented, it is worth asking for help from library specialists. Employees of the Scientific Library wished all participants of the competition success and expressed hope for further meetings.
The competition is always a bright event. It is a unique platform for expanding opportunities to improve English language skills. And the university library is an ideal place for those, who seeks self-improvement and success.
