The Presidium of the Ukrainian Library Association chose the motto of the association on 2026 year. A total of approx 140 proposals from national employees, public, regional, urban, rural libraries, military, business representatives, museum workers, teachers and librarians of educational institutions and readers of libraries from different regions of Ukraine.
The motto "Library is a place of strength" received the largest number of votes of the Presidium, space of freedom", the idea of which belongs to Lyudmila Zhiryk, head of the department of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Universal Scientific Library named after. AND. Frank.
We congratulate the author and the entire library community with the new motto!
In the conditions of war, our slogan is "The library is a place of strength.", space
freedom" acquires a particularly deep meaning.
It emphasizes, that the library is a space of psychological support and stability. People find solace here, faith, knowledge of their history and culture, which helps not to break down and maintain internal balance. This is where the source of truth and resistance to misinformation lies, after all
the library provides access to verified information, helps distinguish truth from propaganda, forms critical thinking. Ukrainian language is taught in the library, preserve national memory and cultural heritage.
Freedom of speech reigns here, thoughts and Ukrainian identity, which
trying to destroy the enemy. Therefore, Ukrainian libraries have become a cultural and informational shield, where is the word, book and knowledge are a form of resistance.
This is a slogan about indomitable spirit, freedom of thought and preservation of humanity, which the library helps to protect even in the most difficult times.
