According to the President's Decree on Europe Day from 8 May 2023 year, Ukraine, together with the states of the European Union, celebrates Europe Day 9 May. This is of great historical importance for European integration of Ukraine, Definition of common ideals and history, Promotes the strengthening of the EU representation in the territory of Ukraine. Today, Europe Day in Ukraine is gaining special significance, because for Ukrainians it is, in particular, a symbol of the struggle for freedom and the European future.
Europe Day is established by the European Union (EU) in honor of the conclusion of the Schuman Declaration 9 May 1950 year. This declaration, at the suggestion of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Robert Shuman, united the coal and steel industries of France and West Germany. This is how the first European united community was born, which marked the beginning of global cooperation of European countries.
At the Milan summit 1985 year, EU leaders decided to commemorate the day of the Schuman Declaration and decided to annually celebrate Europe Day.
