Every year, With the arrival of September, Scientific library departments open their doors for those, Who has just joined the Great Student Family of the Admiral Makarov NUK-freshmen. The staff of the scientific library conducted for them the "decade of the freshman" - a set of activities, that helps the new generation of students to learn about the history and resources of the library, learn to quickly find the necessary literature, work effectively with printed and electronic information and become part of the university's student community.
During the decade, library specialists also talked about that, how convenient it is to use the services of the Scientific Library website, in particular, the section "Student", which contains useful information for those seeking education and an information guide - "Excursion guide for first-year students through the space of Admiral Makarov National University of Science and Technology".
Each department of the Scientific Library prepared for the visit of the guests and gladly offered them book and illustration exhibitions, reviews of literary novelties and periodicals, which will help in learning and self-education.
The employees of the user service department of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Automation and Electrical Engineering welcomed the first-year students hospitably NB. Students were offered a virtual tour of the Scientific Library, during which the main directions of its activities to support first-year students and the educational process in general were outlined. The audience was impressed and interested by the story about the scale of the NB funds, modern electronic resources, activities, conducted by employees. At the stage of registration of first-year students in the department, lively and interesting communication with library specialists took place.
During the first weeks of September, they were happy to welcome a new generation within their walls mechanical engineering students, employees of the user service department of the Mechanical Engineering Educational and Scientific Institute of the National Bank of Ukraine. In a light, relaxed atmosphere, they told the freshmen about the services, provided by the Scientific Library, unique funds of the department, were introduced to literature exhibitions. To a traditional question, why the body, in which they study, called "Old", the head of the department prepared a short excursion into the history of the university, Mechanical Engineering Institute and the building itself. This caused young people to have sincere respect for their Alma mater.
New members of the university's student community were warmly welcomed, who chose specialty "Design", employees of the user service department of the Educational and Scientific Humanitarian Institute and the Faculty of Maritime Law of the NB.
A virtual tour of the Scientific Library was offered to their attention,getting to know the information resources of the department, peculiarities of learning in the conditions of a higher school and the role of the library in its support. A special moment of communication with first-year students was the presentation of the book and illustration exhibition "Design: from idea to implementation" and a mini-survey "I want to know from the librarian about ...", which helped to create a warm atmosphere of unity among the participants.
Information hours in the form of a book advisor allowed to open new horizons and leave bright impressions for each new student, which conducted by employees of the user service department of the Educational and Scientific Pedagogical Institute named after. IN. ABOUT. Sukhomly and Philological Faculty of the National Academy of Sciences. First-year students received information about overcoming the difficulties of the first year of study, educational, educational and other opportunities for self-realization and self-improvement, establishing relations with the environment, competent resolution of conflict situations, preservation of physical and mental health, etc.
"Freshman's Decade" in the Scientific Library of the university was interesting and full of events, giving students the opportunity to get acquainted with the various activities of the library, university environment and fellow students. They were convinced, that a librarian is a trusted advisor, which will help to find the necessary information and, if necessary, will tell, where to look for additional sources.
The "Decades of Freshmen" events of the Scientific Library are the first step towards successful studies and an active student life. Classes on information culture and media literacy await first-year students, academic integrity, learning new and interesting things, discussion of today's issues with like-minded people and many different events.
Library workers believe, that the Scientific Library will open a path to self-development and improvement for first-year students and we sincerely wish them self-confidence.
